Gone stripey

Do you know that IKEA Pello chair? Pretty boring cover, don´t you think? Yeah, right. I had to change it, finally.

It has been quite a brain twister, but I succeeded. The fact that I only had 2m of the fabric didn´t make it any easier (I have like 20cm left...).

 

I did not cut the old cover apart, I just traced around it. Also I didn´t sew in zippers, I used envelope closures instead.

Baby bath towel

One of my fellow students got pregnant last year and born a girl this winter. As a farewell-gift and a welcome-to-earth-gift, I sewed a hooded baby bath towel.

I used a very large towel and a smaller one, cut off the hems, sewed a smaller triangle as a hood onto the bigger part and finished it with bias tape.

Pretty simple, but cute and  (as confirmed) useful.

Making two out of one.

We bought a towel and it was my turn to take care of it.

I cut off the hems and then cut it in two. Finished with binding and that´s it ;)

The (red and) white stripes

I needed more pillows ;) So I sewed 2 inlets and 2 covers. 

Gosa slan cushions from IKEA are a perfect source for cheap fiberfill!
(one of size 80x80cm will make two inlets of 50x50cm)

To soften the stripe-pattern I also crocheted a scalloped trim.

I´ll probably do more crochet trims and add them to both covers. What do you think?

I´m already working on patterns and tutorials for my latest crochet works. So, keep checking once in a while!

I found another version of the window cathedral quilt the other day and had to try it.

It´s amazingly simple and so pretty!

 

Does anyone of you play Xbox?

It was pretty hard to find a grey fabric that fitted. Eventually I even found a silvery one!


I don´t know the source for the tutorial anymore. Maybe I should do my own ;)

Polkadots everywhere!

I *love* polkadots. And recently I found some cute fabric not knowing what to do with it. Later, it was pretty obvious it has to become a curtain for my sewing room!

Since I have no fun pom-pom trim, I crocheted it myself. 80cm and a lot of work.

I never showed you.

It was a gift for my boyfriend, probably 3 years ago.

 

  

I still remember it was hard work because I didn´t use freemotion quilting (I´m not sure I even knew that this technique existed).

Will I ever have enough bags?

No, I won´t!

I sewed this one a while ago, in May or June. I needed something basic but bright. My other bags are often very dark colored...

The crochet flowers were made without any pattern and handstitched (I dislike it) on the bag during the trip to the WGT.

 

It´s very roomy and convenient, yet so simple and fast to sew.

It´s getting brighter in my purse!

I had this black and boring drawstring bag for my mobile and I wanted to get rid of it. It was a makeshift solution anyways.

And that´s the substitute:

For me, it has a Caribbean touch to it.

Black and pink utilities

For Jule´s birthday Bekki and me embellished some towels. She did the ones for the bathroom in blue and brown and my task were the pink and black ones for the kitchen (2 of each color).

 

I used trim, zig zag trim and fabric strips.

In the park.

Two weeks ago we had a picnic, so I needed to sew the picnic throw.

I also prepared the sandwiches, lemonade, peppermint tea, fruit and peanut butter cookies (original American recipe!).


It was the perfect opportunity to use the polkadot patchwork I sewed ages ago.
And it was soo relaxing.

It was time for a little sewing reunion. Bekki came to me 3 weeks ago, for the whole weekend.

We went buying fabric at Maybachufer,

cooked delicious meals (mincemeat-rice-vegetable-mix and sauerkraut with mashed potatos and rostbratwurst) and sewed some time in between.

At friday evening I took off the buttons of my winter coat, did new ones and attached them. This was more time consuming than I thought since it required hand-sewing which I don´t like...
It´s not finished yet, but I like it pretty much.
I wil attach bias tape to the pocket edges and sew a new back closure.

I finished the fabric baskets which waited for months now XD

One is for the cloth pins, one for bread and rolls and the smallest for sewing notions^^

I sewed a test version for a spring jacket. Seems like the pattern is good enough :D But, I guess, it will take some time to sew the real jacket... I need to hurry since I want to take it to Milwaukee...

A little amusement.

Things go well right now ;)
For 3 weeks we live in our apartment and it´s great!

I already sewed 2 cushion covers in white for the sofa. Very simple, with a velcro closure.




Maybe I will sew some more, for a healthy variety ;)

Yesterday I went to IKEA and bought an extension shelf for my stash. I immediately set it up. Well, I need some more boxes but it´s far better than before!

I also bought skeins of yarn as I wanted to try to crochet socks (and a poncho..).
With a little help of the internet for the heel I finished the first sock of my life today.





I´m surprised of how quick and easy (except for the heel) it was. I´ll definately crochet more in different colors^^ My feet are always cold at home... and they´re soo comfy and warm *-*

I think, I´ll add some embellishments, maybe lace, a crochet flower, buttons...

It seems like I´m always sewing bags in my little free time XD

I sewed it back in April.








I love it because it reminds me so much of spring :)
